Ok, I will admit it. I have WAY too much time on my hands waiting… And … Waiting for the sale of the new building to go through. So I’m constantly thinking about what we can do to speed up the process and what actually has to be done to the building to make it ready to move in. So it’s a good thing my friend and confidant is off the island or I would surely drive her crazy, if I havent already!!
So I’m cleaning house and driving my dog around (not in that order) Kind of pathetic I know. But during one of my endless drives (well not exactly endless, since the island is only 2&1/2 miles long) I started to really look at the homes on the island and the things that make each of them stand out. And that is either a name or some kind of adornment at the property entrance. And some of them are quite clever!.
I mean what would possess a person to name their property Sweet Potatoe? I’m really curious! It’s a really nicely done sign, with a bell and all, but why?? I kinda want to know…

And what does Falua mean? Maybe I should Google it?

I understand the need for bells, because even my own house needs something to let me know I have visitors. So maybe I should resort to the obvious like this one?

Or go with the perpetual vacation definition like,

Which always makes me think of margaritas or

Which implies we like to have fun… All the time!
Then there is the direct approach. No chance of mistaking who lives here, which I can totally relate to. I mean sometimes I just need to know where someone lives!

And this one is just covering all the bases

And what would an island be without water or at least the implication of it like,

Which sounds sexy just because it is in French. Or these…

And then you have the ones that just remind you of home. Or maybe it’s just bringing a little bit of home to the island with them?

.
And some of my favorites……
Ask the Landhuise who Jack is….
For some reason this looks very Las Vegas to me😀
My dream property …..
I LOVE all of these! I love that people are proud enough of their property to make it memorable. And I’m proud to live in a place that we can all express our individuality. And for those of you without signage….. What are you waiting for!!
